Camp Week

On Sunday, we dropped Haley and Moriah off at camp for the week. Here is a group shot of their cabin-mates. They apparently have 2 counselors (far left, and far right).

Brooke got to spend some time with a friend from Florida on Monday. She invited another friend - a soccer pal - over for swimming and an overnight. She had tennis this morning. This afternoon, she's feeling a little lonely.

No movement regarding the house yet. Depending on whom you talk you, the real estate market is either in a slump or is doing very well. I'm still trying to remain optimistic....especially since we have placed an offer on our next home (contingency, of course). Surely someone wants a house this big with tons of character??

Hi Linda, just read your comment on my blog.

And no, of course I don't mind! We are moving to Muscatine. We currently live between Nichols and West Liberty on an acreage and wanted to move closer to our worksites/school. The driving gets to be a lot especially as the kids get older and involved in more and more activities. It is a beautiful home and we weren't really looking but had the opportunity to buy Gary and Julie Kaalberg's place on Lucas Rd. (across the bypass) which will be the best of both worlds. Still a country property, old home, barn, pond, etc, but close to all the conveniences of town. We worked on our place for 10 years so it is a little bit bittersweet, but will be the best thing for our family in the long run. Yes, the big old houses can be difficult to sell as people are wanting to downsize, be more energy efficient, etc. Ours was on the market for 14 months. Hang in there, the right person will walk through those doors at the right time! Too bad we never know when that will be! The waiting is by far the hardest part! Take care and I hope it all works out for you and your family!!

it is definitely stressful, linda! we are at 6 months on the market. with no current interest at all. i hate putting more money into a house that we want to SELL, but i'm desperate. so tired of thinking about it!

as far as running goes, good luck at the QC half marathon. my husband and i have been training for the Des Moines half marathon in october. i'm scared! i'm not a runner at all. but have a schedule has helped me beyond belief! we are using the half marathon training schedule right from the dm marathon website. it tells us exactly how many miles to run each day right up to the race. i need that...or i would have given up long ago. once october comes, i'll have to find another race to start training for!

good luck with the house. it's a beautiful home. i just think people are scared of the big old homes right now. unfortunately, that includes ours, too!
